The Water and Environment Department (W&E) of Chuchawal Royal Haskoning carried out a pilot study for improvement of waste water treatment system’s efficiency. W&E recommended installing a primary sedimentation tank as a pretreatment step for TSS removal. Hence, the setting characteristic of solids in process waste water streams was studied. The appropriate overflow rate, detention time and TSS removal percentage of the pre-sedimentation tank were explored. The outcomes of the study contained a conceptual design for a pre-sedimentation tank.
